Boston Harborfest on Georges Island

A Tradition Unto Itself

A mainstay of the New England coffeehouse scene since 1975, the band captivates listeners of all ages with a Downeast mix of Celtic, colonial, maritime, and eclectic folk music from ragtime to oldtime. The GH&CS delights outdoor audiences at town days and fairs, clambakes, and summer concert series.

A Wealth of Waltzes

We've accumulated a wealth of waltzes: Lynn Noel's "Patent Leather Waltz" celebrates the memories of women who worked in New England's shoe mills, John Berger's "Castle Island Waltz" honors that seaside spot near his South Boston home, Nancy Koch's "Message in a Bottle" often inspires listeners to dance, and our version of "Waltzing With Bears" includes the tunes preferred by the bears themselves.
